Forgotten People
they want to be seen
but stay unnoticed
they scream inside
but make no sound
they are human beings
but are treated like objects
they want to be seen
but are just passed by

Shadows
I like it, that the dust of the surface adds an extra texture to this abstract play of light and shadows.

Hitchcock
The only way to get rid of my fears is to make films about them.

Deliberating: my first paid job as a photographer
The night before I have not slept well...and the next morning I was far more nervous than I thought I would be!
But as you can see from the results above - it went fine :)
The people were so nice, honest and warmhearted and our main model Katrin extremely talented!
I learned a lot and want to share it with you!
- 1. one speedlite and one reflector screen is not enough light for a big room
- (thank god, there was this smaller room in the building which already had beautiful natural light!)
(otherwise one person will look into the camera, the other one doesn't, another person smiles, the rest is serious xD )
- 3. Take something with you to cover distracting things in the room
- (I had a white sheet with me)
(I realized that sometimes I was so busy with having the right camera settings, that I missed out on some details, such as clothing related issues, someone still having a watch on, etc. )
But to sum up - it was great working together with people who are passionate about what they do!
These photographs were made for the pilates/yoga/beauty studio of Katrin Mieling.

The Big Day (Weekend)
You might remember the earlier blog-post "before the big day".
Well this day has just passed and it was a great and exciting experience!
The day actually became a weekend, because there were so many things to prepare. With my two wonderful and indispensable helpers, I bought 140kg of soil and a huge bouquet of flowers. We built the set, made a lot of testshots and rethought the consequences of composition for the content of the story.
Of course there were moments of desperation, because there are so many things to consider and think about...
I made a series of sketches to help me visualize my thoughts and remind me during the shoot of what I have planned.
And finally...to give you a sneak sneak preview...
We had a really great day with our wonderful, experienced model Annemarie,
who made this shoot such a joyful experience!
The post-processing which starts now, will take quite some time,
because I want to make sure to get the best out of it.
Stay tuned!

Melkweg Gallery
As I mentioned in an earlier blogpost, I printed 3 photographs of mine (at Fotolab Kiekie) to take part in the project 1000 Photos Amsterdam. Now they are hanging in the Melkweg Gallery. I've been there last thursday and really enjoyed the atmosphere, the speech and of course the photographs! Looking forward to the Expo Sale Party on June 16th!

Before the big day...
I am planning a shoot at the moment about the theme "death". Trying to develop a new kind of image for this theme. I want to make a story telling series of photographs. A lot of planning and organisation has to be done for this and it's very exciting, because it's the first time I will try to set up a shooting as big as this one. Time to make some great portfolio-work as long as I'm still able to use the studio at my internship!
Beneath are some testshots I made.
